A big thank you to all the companies and individuals who have donated funds to the SAMBER Group over the years. It is only with ongoing support that these children continue to benefit year after year.
This year, the bulk of our fundraising has come from the fruits of our labour – and the very generous support of the majority of local, Chobham, businesses – following our first Fundraising ‘Race Night’ in November 2008. We had a wonderful fish and chip supper with wine and refreshments, placing ‘bets’ on a horses that had been ‘bought’ and named by various individuals, running in six sponsored races. We had a huge raffle – with many of the prizes kindly donated by local companies. In the end, we were able to raise over £2000 – way beyond our expectations -but leaving us safe to run through to the end of the summer term in 2009. As a result, we have treated the children to a new box of mounted games’ toys to enhance and improve a variety of skills including hand-eye co-ordination, recognition of shapes and colours, focus and concentration and to improve strength and muscle tone.

Last year we were lucky enough to receive a very generous donation via friend and supporter of SAMBER, Emma Statham, the owner of a local media planning company MSA Market Media. We also received a donation from the Godolphin & Latymer School which helped us overcome being rejected for several other funding applications.
Special thanks go to Carol Golsby who in 2007 ran the London Marathon and again gave us her support raising over £260. This is in addition to June 2006, when she cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats raising over £900 for SAMBER. Thank you to Jane Henman who last year donated some wonderful tack including saddles and rugs.
The Children with Special Needs Foundation continues to be a wonderful sponsor, most recently giving money for a new shed. We also received donations from a local children’s choir ‘In A Cappella’, Woking Community Transport, Willow Lodge, Pirbright Riding Club and the Windlesham Infant School in 2007, in addition to money donated by friends and families of our volunteers and riders.
If you are able to donate any money or items that we could use, sell or barter, please contact Penny King at your earliest convenience. We would be sincerely grateful for all your help. Thank you.
